About Alexis

Alexis Stella, LSW, CADC supports clients all across the lifespan and on a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, and life transitions.  She is LGBTQ+ affirmative and has a specialization in substance abuse and addictions counseling.  Alexis has a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from St. Francis and a Master’s degree in Social Work with a concentration in Substance Abuse and Addictions Counseling from Aurora University.  She has experience working in a rehab center for people struggling with substance abuse and mental illness and in an assisted living facility supporting people with dementia and their caregivers. She continues to work as a Child Welfare Specialist, assisting and guiding children and families in the reunification process.  The theoretical models she uses most to guide her therapy are motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, strengths-based therapy, and solution focused therapy. In her free time, she loves playing with and walking her dogs, exercising, and spending time with friends and family. One of her favorite sayings that she applies to both her personal and professional life is “In a world where you can be anything, be kind.”
