Allison Deckinga, LPC holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology and Minor in French from North Central College and a Master’s of Science in Clinical Psychology from Benedictine University. She is experienced in working with adolescents in residential, inpatient, and PHP settings who struggle with mood and eating disorders, supporting adults with mood and eating disorders, supporting college students experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD, and disordered eating, and leading groups centered on Acceptance Commitment Therapy, relapse prevention, family dynamics, life skills for teens, and motivation for change. Her clinical work draws from CBT, DBT, ACT, and client-centered approaches, and she likes to provide her clients with options of different ways to learn skills. Allison’s clinical work is guided by her overall philosophy about treatment: “My relationships with my clients are what matter most to me. I want them to feel safe, seen, and respected. I welcome all clients from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Meeting clients where they are at and walking alongside them on their journey is my main goal. I want clients to understand that they are the experts of their own lives; I am simply here to support, provide psychoeducation if needed, and validate their experience.” When Allison is not working, she loves reading, watching spooky movies, traveling, and playing with her cat. Thank you, Allison, for sharing your talent with Alder Grove!
