Jackie Langdon

Jackie Langdon is interning with Alder Grove while she pursues her Master’s degree in Social Work at Aurora University.  Jackie has a Bachelor’s of Science in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology from Illinois State University and a Certificate in Sign Language Interpreting from Illinois Central College.  She is fluent in American Sign Language and has worked as an educational sign language interpreter supporting students who communicate through ASL for the past eight years.  She has supported people who are D/deaf and Hard of Hearing, people who additionally have emotional and behavioral challenges, people with a variety of disabilities in a transition center, and people who are autistic.  In addition to sign language interpreting, she has worked as a paraprofessional in the educational setting.  Jackie’s work as an interpreter has allowed her to be a voice and advocate for students at intense moments of their lives, and she has felt honored to be entrusted to this role.  She is pursuing her social work degree and license so she can expand the ways that she can support people.  Jackie believes that self-care is vital to living a healthy long life in conjunction with physical care.  She believes that everyone has the right to mental health services and a safe space to express themselves, and she looks forward to being that space for her clients.  When not working, Jackie enjoys spending time with her family engaging in outdoor activities like fishing and camping, scrapbooking, doing DIY projects around the house, learning how to use new power tools and transforming areas of her home, and sitting by a fire to unwind.  Her favorite quote is “be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”
