About Jessica
Jessica Marcano is interning with Alder Grove while she pursues her Master’s degree in Science for Marriage and Family Therapy at Capella University. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). She works with individuals of all ages, couples, and families facing the challenges life presents when dealing with changes and transitions. She specializes in working with those who struggle with grief, anxiety, depression, family or couples conflict or miscommunication. Jessica’s approach combines elements of family systems therapy, narrative therapy, solution focused brief therapy, and the Gottman Method. She takes a strength-based approach that focuses on empowering clients to share their perspectives and facilitates self-awareness, healing, and personal growth. Her favorite quote is from Fred Rogers: Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone.
