About Kelly

Kelly Wydra, LCPC, CADC, CCM, CODP II, NBCC has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Minor in Family and Child Studies from Northern Illinois University.  She has a Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology.  She supports clients in addressing anxiety, depression, substance abuse, self-esteem, body image issues, relationship problems, perinatal and postpartum mental health, grief, life transitions, and shame and guilt.  In addition to outpatient therapy, she has worked in victim advocacy, case management, emergency mental health, crisis hotline support, adjunct teaching, substance use recovery support, forensic psychological assessment and counseling, and clinical supervision.  Kelly’s theoretical approach is eclectic and holistic and depends on the client’s needs.  She is strengths-based and trauma-informed, and her work draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, the Gottman Method, family therapy, person-centered therapy, and motivational interviewing.  When not working, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, being outside and in nature, reading, traveling, and doing creative arts (music, painting, etc.).  Kelly appreciates the Sincero quote, “what you choose to focus on becomes your reality,” and from Hayes, “The process of living is like taking a very long road trip. The destination may be important, but the journey experienced day to day and week to week is what is invaluable.”
