About Maryssa

Maryssa DeNardo, LSW, CADC, EMDR is a talented therapist who works with people of all ages on a variety of issues including sleep issues, coping with divorce, anxiety, depression, past trauma, support for those who are LGBTQ+, and support for first responders.  She specializes in individual therapy, using CBT and DBT.  Maryssa completed both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work at Aurora University with a graduate level specialization in Addictions and Healthcare.  Maryssa’s previous professional experiences include supporting people in obtaining and maintaining housing, supporting adolescents struggling with chemical dependency and trauma issues in partial and intensive outpatient hospital programs, and outpatient counseling.  When not at work, Maryssa enjoys reading, traveling, watching movies, and walking her dogs.  She is a dog mom to two rescue dogs, one of whom has 3 legs.  A quote that inspires her both personally and professionally is this one from Brené Brown: “Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.”
