Kate Gavin is pursuing her Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology with a Child Subspecialty at Benedictine University, where she also completed her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. She specializes in working with athletes and student athletes. With experience as a babysitter and involvement with organizations like The Hidden Opponent and Team Impact, Kate brings a wealth of knowledge and empathy to her practice, particularly in working with children, adolescents, young adults.
Kate's therapeutic approach is rooted in client-centered therapy, prioritizing congruence, unconditional positive regard, and empathetic understanding. Drawing from her personal experiences as an athlete, youth soccer coach, and advocate for mental health awareness, she integrates mindfulness, emotional regulation, and stress management techniques into her sessions.
Kate's passion for mental health extends beyond her professional endeavors; she is deeply involved in initiatives like Psi Chi and has served in leadership roles for organizations dedicated to de-stigmatizing mental health challenges among student-athletes and fostering connections between athletes and children facing illness.
Outside of her work, Kate enjoys music, sports, photography, baking, and spending quality time with loved ones, embodying the belief that with the right support and strategies, everyone can enhance their everyday lives.
