Krista Varsbergs, a clinical intern at Alder Grove Counseling, brings a unique blend of artistic insight and therapeutic acumen to her practice. With a background in visual arts, including a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and graduate studies at Yale University and the University of Chicago, Krista is currently pursuing her MSW at Aurora University. Her experiences as a graphic designer and post-secondary arts educator have instilled in her a deep understanding of the complexities of the human experience, particularly among emerging and older adults.
Drawing from her expertise in holistic approaches and a keen interest in methodologies such as Internal Family Systems, CBT, and DBT, Krista fosters a therapeutic environment that acknowledges the interconnectedness of individuals within their systems. Specializing in working with college-age students, Krista's focus lies in helping clients manage anxiety, develop executive functioning skills, and cultivate self-awareness through creativity and mindfulness practices. Outside of her clinical work, Krista is an avid practitioner of drawing and mindfulness, finding solace and inspiration in nature's embrace as a self-described tree-hugger who values the restorative power of the outdoors.
