Katrina Weston

Clinical Intern

Katrina’s journey into social work began long before graduate school. Drawn to meaningful conversations about healing, identity, and community, she has always been passionate about helping others feel seen, supported, and whole. After earning her Bachelor of Arts in African American Studies with a minor in Psychology from Western Illinois University, she continued pursuing that purpose through her Master of Social Work degree at Aurora University.

As a children’s book author and aspiring therapist, Katrina blends storytelling, compassion, and authenticity into the work she does. She is especially passionate about supporting historically underrepresented communities, particularly the Black/African American community, while creating spaces that feel safe, affirming, and judgment-free.

Inspired by her lived experiences, Katrina developed a strong interest in supporting teens, young adults, adults, and caregivers navigating chronic illness, life transitions, and emotional stress. She is also passionate about working with creatives, entrepreneurs, and higher education students. Her background and interest in anatomy and physiology deepened her understanding of the connection between physical health, emotional wellness, and overall quality of life.

Katrina approaches therapy with warmth, collaboration, and grace. She believes healing often begins in the middle of uncertainty, with one honest conversation and one safe space to simply exhale. Her goal is to help clients move through life with greater balance, self-understanding, and compassion for themselves along the way.

Outside of academics and clinical work, Katrina enjoys spending time with family, attending reformer Pilates classes, reading romance novels, and watching feel-good rom-coms along with classic Black films and television shows. She also enjoys listening to music and exploring experiences from her personal “playlist,” her playful version of a bucket list centered around wellness, joy, and intentional living.

At the heart of everything Katrina does is the belief that growth cannot be rushed. Like nature, everyone blooms in their own season, and every stage of becoming deserves patience, compassion, and care.
